Basé à Strasbourg depuis toujours, Gallen fait de la musique depuis l’âge de 6 ans au sein d’une famille de musiciens. Cette pratique instrumentale commencée dès son plus jeune âge lui a donné les bases d’une solide culture musicale et de multiples occasions de se produire en scène, ce qui lui sera très utile par la suite. Avant la déferlante techno, lorsqu’il passait son temps libre en Allemagne, un de ses hobbies préférés était de collectionner les premiers disques House de Chicago et de fréquenter les clubs où cette musique commençait à se propager. Désirant passer de la théorie à la pratique, il a commencé à composer sur un Amiga.
Depuis, son intérêt pour la musique électronique ne l’a pas quitté. Les nombreux disques qu’il a sorti depuis 1992 en témoignent. Le « Gallen’s freaky-groovy pump beat style » (tel que le qualifie la presse anglaise) a déjà conquis de très nombreux ravers mais aussi pas mal d’artistes avec qui il a joué en soirée (de Jeff Mills à Carl Cox en passant par Laurent Garnier, Adam Beyer, Green Velvet, Richie Hawtin ou Monika Kruse) ainsi que certains de ses pairs (tels Jack de Marseille, Stanny Franssen, Didier Sinclair ou Scan X) qui ont tenu à remixer quelques-uns de ses morceaux. Mais ses exploits ne se limitent pas à la production discographique et aux Live Acts puisqu’il a également composé la musique d’un défilé de mode (pendant 3 années consécutives) ainsi que la bande originale d’un jeu vidéo.
Based in Strasbourg since always, Gallen started to make music when he was 6 years old within a family of musicians. This instrumental practice started at a young age gave him the bases of a solid musical culture and multiple occasions to occur in scene, which will be very useful thereafter for him. Before the beachcomber techno, when he spent his spare time to Germany, one of his favourite hobbies was to collect the first house discs of Chicago and to attend the clubs where this music started to be propagated. Wishing to move from theory to the practise, he started to compose on Amiga.
Since then, his interest for the electronic music did not leave him. The many discs he made since 1992 testify that. The «Gallen’s freaky-groovy pump beat style» (as the English press use to qualifies it) already conquered a big part of the audience and also many artists with which he played in parties (the most famous were Jeff Mills, Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, Adam Beyer, Green Velvet, Richie Hawtin, Monika Kruse...). Some of the best composers (Jack of Marseille, Stanny Franssen, Didier Sinclair or Scan X) asked to remix some of Gallen’s tracks with a good result. But his exploits are not limited to the discographic production and Live Acts since he also composed the music of a fashion parade (for 3 years) as well as the original soundtrack of a video game.
